Angela F. Benjamin, Esq.
Of Counsel
Greenberg Traurig

Angela F. Benjamin is an experienced trial lawyer who focuses on complex commercial litigation. She draws on her background as a former government attorney, having represented Miami-Dade and Broward Counties in state and federal courts on matters involving airports, seaports, water and sewer departments, and various county agencies. Her practice encompasses complex litigation, multimillion-dollar construction defect cases, delay claims, contract disputes, and intergovernmental matters. Prior to working in government, Angela began her career at an international law firm.

In addition to her litigation experience, she also has experience negotiating and drafting various construction and real estate-related project contracts, including construction management agreements, leases, and operating agreements for major facilities.

Angela is active in the Miami-Dade Florida Association for Women Lawyers (MDFAWL), where she served as president for 2024-2025 and currently serves as immediate past-president.

ROBERT (“Beau”) E. BLUMBERG is a Partner with the trial law firm of Deutsch, Blumberg & Caballero P.A., where he practices personal injury, medical malpractice, and product liability law. He is a member of The Florida Bar and has served on a Grievance Committee and is the current Vice-Chair of the Code & Rules of Evidence Committee, appointed to the Florida Courts Technology Commission by the Florida Supreme Court from 2022-2024, Miami-Dade Bar (“MDB”) Board of Directors 2022-2024, MDB Treasurer 2024-2025, MDB Secretary 2025-2026, and President of the MDB YLS (2023-2024); Appointed to the Florida Bar Young Lawyer’s Division Board of Governors 2025-2026. Mr. Blumberg earned his B.A. degree from the College of William and Mary and his J.D. degree from the William and Mary School of Law.

David E. Cannella is a business trial attorney who focuses on complex business litigation. He has extensive experience in class-action defense, trade secret litigation, enforcement of restrictive covenants, "business divorce" proceedings between officers and founders of companies, stock option agreement litigation, defamation, franchise and distributor litigation, unfair competition, and defense of deceptive and unfair trade practices claims. Mr. Cannella is based in Holland & Knight’s Orlando office, but has handled matters across the country for clients.

Mr. Cannella has tried numerous jury business litigation cases to verdict as lead trial counsel in state and federal courts. Mr. Cannella has tried business litigation nonjury cases and has significant arbitration experience. Since 2010, Mr. Cannella has been board certified in Business Litigation Law by The Florida Bar. This distinguishes Mr. Cannella as an expert in the area of Business Litigation.

In addition to his business litigation experience, Mr. Cannella has handled issues involving pharmaceutical and medical device product liability defense. He has been lead counsel in catastrophic injury claims.

Mr. Cannella is also a Certified Circuit Court Mediator. He has testified regarding attorney fees in state and federal courts. He has appeared pro hac vice as lead counsel in Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Tennessee.

In the community, Mr. Cannella is a past president of the Legal Aid Society of the Orange County Bar Association and has volunteered for more than 25 years as a jury advisor for the Orange County Teen Court Youth Offender Diversion Program. Mr. Cannella served as chair of The Florida Bar’s Ninth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee. He currently is a board member of the George C. Young American Inn of Court.

In 2016, Mr. Cannella represented a shooting victim of the Pulse Nightclub attack in Orlando in a dispute with an auto finance company. He has also served as a guardian ad litem representing minor children.

Previously, Mr. Cannella has served as an adjunct professor of business law at the University of Central Florida, and he was a faculty member of the Kessler-Eidson Program for Trial Techniques at Emory University School of Law. 

Michael is a litigator with significant jury trial experience who has successfully managed a diverse array of civil and criminal matters. His background includes both statewide and local government experience, and he has taken over 75 jury trials to verdict. Michael focuses his practice on complex commercial litigation, with particular emphasis on administrative, regulatory, investigative, and government-related matters. Michael represents both governments and private individuals in litigation disputes.

Before entering private practice, Michael served as Assistant State Attorney with the Palm Beach State Attorney’s Office. During his time in the State Attorney’s office, he gained notable trial experience, handling an array of cases, including multiple homicide cases, to jury trial verdict. Michael was quickly promoted to the office’s Public Corruption Unit, a specialized prosecution division that handled the investigation and prosecution of politicians, police officers, and public employees. Michael also previously served as Assistant City Attorney for the City of Delray Beach, Florida. Michael was the city’s chief litigator in lawsuits arising during his tenure, including election qualification challenges. Additionally, he worked closely with the city’s planning and zoning department, and he was the primary attorney responsible for the preparation and evaluation of government contracts, review and drafting of solicitations for competitive procurements and bids, ethics and Sunshine Law consultation, and labor and collective bargaining negotiations.

Michael utilizes his comprehensive litigation experience to represent clients in many government-related areas. He represents private clients in administrative matters before all Florida agencies, including but not limited to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, the Florida Commission on Ethics, the Florida Elections Commission, the Florida Housing Finance Corporation, and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and he is well-versed in Florida Division of Administrative Hearings proceedings and formal administrative hearings. Michael has represented both elected officials and candidates for office during ballot and qualification challenges and in investigations related to elections and ethics matters, notably serving as a member of the election recount team for a current United States Senator. Additionally, Michael has represented both local governments and individuals adverse to local governments in litigation matters, including property development challenges, competitive solicitation and bid protests, and civil rights violations.

In addition to complex commercial and administrative litigation, Michael has experience in matters related to government relations and public policy, procurement and government contracts, zoning, land use and development, code enforcement, and real property litigation. Michael regularly represents private clients during governmental and police investigations, both criminal and regulatory.

Michael was selected for inclusion in the Florida Super Lawyers® list in 2025. He has been named to Best Lawyers of America Ones to Watch annually since 2021. He was named to South Florida’s 2024 Top Lawyers, published by the Miami Herald and chosen by peer review, and was selected as a 2024 Distinguished Member by Lawyers of Distinction. Shawn Jewell is a civil trial attorney with more than a decade of legal experience. He has represented clients across a broad spectrum that includes national retail businesses, major transportation carriers, construction companies, hospitality, corporate clients, as well as individuals and small businesses throughout the state of Florida. In his director and officer liability practice, Peter represents trustees, receivers, and assignees in complex litigation against former fiduciaries of companies in a wide range of industries.

He also serves as outside general counsel to corporate clients and routinely acts as the primary legal advisor to clients in a variety of industries. Additionally, Peter actively supports our community by representing, pro bono, a minor in Florida’s juvenile dependency courts, serving on committees dedicated to enhancing the practice of law in the state of Florida, and mentoring law students and young attorneys. Jeannete Lewis has spent her entire legal career handling complex personal injury and death cases from inception through trial.
