🔍 What You’ll Learn: A Practical Guide to Florida Circuit Court
For 15 years, our Florida Circuit Court Boot Camp has remained a cornerstone training program for attorneys who want to confidently handle cases in Florida state trial court—and not learn by trial and error.
This two-part program is built to walk you through a Florida Circuit Court case from the earliest strategic decisions through pre-trial readiness, with practical instruction you can immediately put to work. If you’re new to litigation, newly admitted, or feeling a little rusty on the fundamentals, this program gives you the structure, judgment, and courtroom perspective law school simply does not provide.
You’ll begin where every case truly starts: early case assessment, themes, pleadings, and motion practice. Learn how to think strategically about complaints and answers, distinguish defenses from affirmative defenses, and understand when—and when not—to bring motions directed at the pleadings. Faculty focus heavily on common mistakes, overlooked rules, and procedural missteps that can quietly derail a case early on.
From there, the program dives deep into discovery and e-discovery, including the latest rules, proportionality, preservation obligations, and sanctions. You’ll gain clarity on what discovery actually matters, how to prepare clients and experts, how to deal with uncooperative opposing counsel, and how discovery decisions impact both settlement and trial. This is the nuts-and-bolts guidance newer attorneys desperately need—but rarely receive.
The boot camp also tackles depositions head-on, covering Florida-specific rules and timelines, deciding whom to depose, how to take effective depositions, how to handle objections and difficult counsel, and how depositions are used at trial and in settlement discussions. The emphasis is on avoiding the easy mistakes that judges see every day.
You’ll then move into motions for summary judgment, learning how timing, cost, and strategy intersect, and how to write persuasive briefs that judges actually want to read. Faculty break down what works, what doesn’t, and how to present both written submissions and oral argument more effectively.
The program concludes with a focused look at pre-trial practice, including pretrial conferences and orders, motions in limine, trial briefs, final status conferences, and strategic decisions that shape how a case is ultimately presented to the trier of fact.
What truly elevates this program is the faculty. Each year, multiple Florida Circuit Court judges participate, offering candid insight into what they expect from attorneys appearing in their courtrooms—and the mistakes they wish lawyers would stop making. You’ll also hear from seasoned litigators on both sides of the aisle, ensuring a balanced, real-world perspective throughout.
Attorneys consistently describe this boot camp as one of the most useful and confidence-building programs they’ve attended.
If you’re newly admitted, preparing to handle your first Circuit Court cases, or simply want a comprehensive refresher on Florida state trial practice, this May program delivers the foundation, clarity, and courtroom insight you need to move forward with confidence.
There is no better Circuit Court and litigation primer program in Florida. Our testimonials can speak to that claim.
