Shawn is speaking at our Mastering the Deposition 101: The Nuts and Bolts (FL), on November 10 and 12, 2026!
Geared for the newer Florida litigator, this comprehensive two-part program teaches you how to take, defend, and use depositions effectively. Your faculty will also provide depo demonstrations for most of the critical sessions to illustrate their points.
On November 10, Shawn teaches “Witness Preparation,” which covers practical tips and strategies, common mistakes to avoid, your percipient witness vs. your PMK, what to do if your witness won’t prepare, what to do if your witness won’t listen, when your witness is going to be a disaster, if a senior partner is making the decisions, if you are making the decisions, and ethical issues to consider. He then comments during “Expert Witness Depositions” with Michael E. Dutko, Jr.

Shawn Jewell is a civil trial attorney with more than a decade of legal experience. He has represented clients across a broad spectrum that includes national retail businesses, major transportation carriers, construction companies, hospitality, corporate clients, as well as individuals and small businesses throughout the state of Florida. In addition to his work in commercial and business litigation, employment law, personal injury, and premises liability, he can also provide mediation services. He strives to provide effective and efficient service to all his clients and looks to proactively handle legal issues before trial or to zealously fight for them in trial.
A double-Gator, he graduated cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science and Government as well as receiving his Juris Doctor, cum laude from the University of Florida. He’s been recognized for his service to the community through his pro bono work through the Orange County Bar. He’s also been recognized by his peers as a Super Lawyer.
