Don’t miss our Mastering the Deposition 101: The Nuts and Bolts (FL)
Two-part live webinar | Tuesday and Thursday, November 10 and 12, 2026 | Florida | $175 to $250 | Also available via OnDemand Streaming or Recorded Package Downloads
Depositions require skill, finesse, and a clear understanding of people, from the witness you’re questioning to the opposing counsel across the table. A well-executed deposition can position your case for success at trial.
Geared for the newer Florida litigator, our two-part Mastering the Deposition 101: The Nuts and Bolts (FL) program teaches you how to take, defend, and use depositions effectively. You’ll learn practical techniques for planning, questioning, objecting, and handling witnesses under pressure, along with strategies to manage difficult situations and opposing counsel professionally and decisively.
Your faculty will also provide depo demonstrations for most of the critical sessions to illustrate their points. During the majority of sessions, you will either get to see a depo demonstration related to that session’s topics, or videos of past depositions.
Part 1 covers the essential foundation: scheduling and procedural challenges, deposition strategy, state vs. federal rule distinctions, and key ethical considerations. You’ll also learn how to prepare both percipient and expert witnesses, evaluate whether a deposition is worth taking, and use deposition testimony strategically at hearings and trial.
Part 2 moves into the advanced, real-world challenges litigators face in the depo room. Faculty will demonstrate how to handle documents and exhibits (including online depos), make the record, impeach effectively, and respond to or make objections appropriately. You’ll also see practical demonstrations on managing hostile witnesses and uncooperative counsel, with advice you can apply immediately.
Our fabulous faculty includes Angela F. Benjamin of the Broward County Attorney’s Office, Robert (Beau) E. Blumberg of Deutsch Blumberg & Caballero P.A., David E. Cannella and Kristin N. Royal of Holland & Knight, Michael E. Dutko, Jr. of Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, Shawn T. Jewell of the Law Office of Peter Delahunty, Peter J. Klock, II of Bast Amron LLP, and Daniel E. Smith II of Hogan Smith Law. Between them, they include two board certified attorneys, a former prosecutor who has taken more than 75 jury trials to verdict, a deputy county attorney, and two former federal judicial law clerks.
By the end of this program, you’ll know how to plan and conduct depositions that serve your strategic goals; prepare witnesses for success and manage those who won’t cooperate; handle objections, impeachment, and ethical dilemmas with confidence; manage difficult witnesses and opposing counsel calmly and effectively; navigate both state and federal deposition rules; and use deposition testimony persuasively at hearing or trial.
If your attorneys can’t attend live, the full program is available via OnDemand Streaming or Recorded Package Downloads. Group licenses are available for firms and agencies.
