“I have utilized all of the service providers that I noted in the survey and truly felt I received great service from each. My favorite continuing legal education seminar provider, Pincus Professional Education is particularly noteworthy though. I have attended about five Pincus seminars. Each was phenominally packed with useful content and had presenters/speakers of the highest skill level. I would unhesitatingly recommend Pincus to other lawyers and am already planning my next couple of seminars with this CLE provider.” – Quote from The Recorder’s ‘Best of CA 2013′ survey.
Timothy Edwards, Esq.
Edwards Richter & Phillips, LLP
Timothy Edwards focuses his practice on complex state and federal court civil litigation, including class action disputes in federal court. Mr. Edwards represents businesses and individuals in commercial disputes involving non-compete agreements, trade secrets and other business torts. He also handles real estate and construction litigation. Tim is a nationally- recognized author and speaker on issues involving electronic discovery, document retention practices and the admissibility of electronically stored information. Mr. Edwards has been lead counsel in numerous class actions lawsuits, including a number of successful wage and hour collective actions resulting in substantial, favorable settlements. Tim also represents licensed professionals in professional discipline matters.
Mr. Edwards is an adjunct lecturer at the University of Wisconsin Law School, where he has taught Civil Procedure, Pre-Trial Advocacy, Evidence and Professional Responsibility. For the past five years, Tim has run the Law School’s nationally recognized Pre-Trial Advocacy Program, which provides hands on, practical skills training for second and third year law students.
Mr. Edwards began his law career as a criminal defense attorney representing indigent clients in a busy Arizona courthouse. This prepared him well for a career as a litigator – but left him convinced that effective client representation requires more than the ability to simply grind through dozens of cases each day.
Mr. Edwards’ interest in teaching took him back to law school, where he earned two advanced degrees in law, including a Master of Laws (L.L.M.) and a Doctorate in Law (S.J.D.). His academic preparation and extensive practical experience allows him to approach legal problems from many angles. In weighing solutions, Mr. Edwards keeps a sharp eye on efficiency. He understands that one of his clients’ biggest challenges is the cost of litigation, and he works hard to keep costs in check while assertively protecting each client’s best interests.
Prior to forming Edwards Richter & Philips, LLP Mr. Edwards was a partner at Relles & Milliken, LLP. Mr. Edwards has also worked for a large Madison law firm for over seven years, where he practiced primarily in complex federal court litigation involving class action work. Before that, Tim had his own law firm in downtown Madison.
A native of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Mr. Edwards originally came to Wisconsin to attend Wayland Academy. After moving around a bit (in addition to practicing law in Arizona, he once worked at a giant amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio, operating a water ride called the Nestea Plunge), Mr. Edwards and his wife are delighted to live in Oregon, Wisconsin with their son, Nathan, and their daughter, Megan.
